We have made a heavy-duty actuator based on OpenBuilds C-Beam with SFU1204 Ball Screw and HGH15 Linear Guides. This together with some custom-made plates makes up a very robust construction. The actuator is capable of carrying a heavy load both from the top or sideways.
On the Gantry Plate we have put a set of holes that allow two actuators to be mounted a 90dg to make up a complete X-Y table. Also we added some extra M5 threaded holes for mounting other functions to the plate.
The Build is a result of a student project here at makersupplies.dk. Thanks for the contribution!
In the video introduce the actuator and show how to assemble it.
The entire build and individual parts are now available on our web-shop in a series of lengths. Check them out here: https://makersupplies.dk/…/linear…/ball-screw-drive

Hello.
i’m thinking about building my first CNC. My main problem is selecting correct length for specific parts. For example. What length ball screw and rail do i need for 750mm C-Beam?
I’m looking Ball-Screw-Actuator-BoM.pdf right now. At the top is “Cut list” with three dimensions in each line. So for example. For 750 (ball screw dimension?), i would need 660mm rail and 735mm C-Beam?
Any help is welcome.
I hope you saw our answer? We have had some issues and had to roll back the site a few days – so its gone.
In essence, you are right in the way you read the cut list. Length is defined by the Ball Screw.
We just launched Piranha Ball Screw based on this actuator. You can find it here: https://makersupplies.dk/cnc-machines-kits/linear-guide-cnc-routers/piranha-cnc/piranha-ball-screw
